Description
Two teams of four play inside the grid with three neutrals: one at each end and one pivot in the middle. The team in possession plays with all three neutrals. A pass from one end neutral to the other through the middle scores one point.
Organisation
30x20m grid, or 25x15m for older players. End neutrals stay on their line. The pivot moves freely inside. Play 4 x 3 minute bouts, then the teams change roles. Neutrals are limited to two touches.
Coaching points
- Make the pitch big in possession: width from the wide players, depth from the end neutrals.
- Play forward to the pivot when the press leaves a gap.
- Find the third player when a direct pass is blocked.
- The defending team presses as a unit and screens the pivot.
